Are you interested in helping school systems across the country?
Teach for America trains recent college graduates to teach and then places them in low-income school systems around the nation.
More University of Georgia students are becoming involved with TFA — applications to the program are up 21 percent from last year.
Interested in applying? Here’s a checklist you can use to help keep yourself organized.
Step 1: Apply online at www.teachforamerica.org by the specified deadlines: Sept. 18, Oct. 28, Jan. 8, and Feb. 19.
Step 2: Check the Web site the week after you apply. If selected to progress, schedule a phone interview.
Step 3: Participate in a 30-minute phone interview with a TFA representative.
Step 4: After a week, check the Web site again. If selected to progress, make a choice about the time and location of your final interview.
Step 5: Attend a day-long interview. Participate in mock teaching, discussions and one-on-one interviewing.
Step 6: Check the Web site for the next step. If selected to progress, decide what subject and age group you would prefer to teach. Also, choose a placement location.
Step 7: Within a week, check for the placement decision.
Step 8: Learn, research and prepare.
Step 9: Give TFA your final answer.
Step 10: Teach!

Good idea for a breakout format, telling people how to apply. Since these steps are sequential, I'd be more inclined to call it a step-by-step format or a how-to than a checklist. Your headline doesn't need to start with "Learn" here. "How to apply..." works better.
